Financial Admin: Discount Order Definitions

Learn how to set up definitions for Arrange Discount Percentage Order

You have the flexibility to set the order in which the system's four pre-set discounts are applied. Just like in math class with order of operations, the sequence matters.

Example: Applying a 10% discount before a 5% discount gives a different result than doing it the other way around. Discounts are added to each person's ledger in the order you choose, affecting the total calculation for multiple discounts.

  1. Navigate to Admin > Financial Admin. From the Definitions menu in the upper right corner, select Arrange Discount Percentage Order.

Note: Standard-type discounts (like the 'Early Bird" discount) are always first and does not need to be defined in the order above. You will define Standard-type discounts for your organization when you define Line Item Credits.

  2. Select the purple Arrange button in the top right corner of the window.

  3. Use your mouse to drag and drop each Discount to arrange them in the order you like (top is first, bottom is last).

  4. Click the green Save Changes button.

Example: (above) The Sibling Discount is applied before the Multiple Session Discount.

  • A $1000 tuition with a 10% Sibling Discount reduces it to $900.

  • Next, a 5% Multi-Session Discount is applied to the reduced amount of $900, subtracting $45.

  • Remember, 5% of $900 differs from 5% of $1000, highlighting the significance of the discount sequence in determining the total discount amount.

Note: Set and save your discount arrangement before enrolling campers. Changing it after adding line items can cause major issues. Once items are on the ledger, fixing an incorrect setup is difficult.
